While wary of “cashing in” on the franchise, Global President of 2K Christoph Hartmann suggests that Bioshock could follow the Star Wars saga, generating sequels as long as the story holds out.

Now of course he isn’t guaranteeing five more Bioshock games, but Hartmann says that if the innovation is there and the storyline is strong, they would keep telling the Bioshock story until it’s done.

“For Bioshock, because it’s so story driven, the question obviously arises: how long can you do it without turning into The Matrix? The first Matrix was great, the second one was weird and the third one, you thought: ‘Who [making this] is on crack and who isn’t?’. “But, then again, look at Star Wars. It’s a fight between good and evil, just like Bioshock. If we spin it the right way and get the right twist of innovation, we can make six parts of it, as Star Wars did.

Hell, if they can keep things fresh and new through five sequels, more of my money to them. Hartmann did go on to say that they would never force out a new Bioshock game just to have a new BioShock game, citing the example of an unnamed racing title.

“But we have to be careful not to cash in. I won’t name the company, but there was a great racing game years ago. They brought it back year-on-year. If you look at the scores, it’s hard to believe what they’ve done to it. It’s upsetting, actually.”

Could this be a thinly-veiled dig at EA’s Need for Speed franchise?

Bioshock can ‘do a Star Wars’, says 2K boss [MCV]

JVC nos ha mareado durante el dia de hoy con muchas nuevas videocámaras, pero ya que no queremos torturarte de la misma manera, pasamos a mostrarte las tres que nos han parecido más interesantes. Se trata de la GZ-HD300 (60 GB), la GZ-HD320 (120 GB) y la GZ-HM200, ésta última caracterizada por tener doble ranura para tarjetas SD, permitiendo grabar de una a otra (cuando la primera esté completa) sin interrupciones. Estos tres modelos graban en Full HD y cuentan con un sensor CMOS de 3,05 megapíxeles.

Si por el contrario prefieres una cámara de resolución estándar, JVC también ha renovado las series Everio G y S, incluyendo además un sistema de exportación compatible con iTunes, que permitirá pasar los vídeos a tu iPod/iPhone directamente. Podríamos ver los nuevos modelos en el mercado a partir de marzo, con unos precios que se espera que ronden entre los 300 y 800 dólares (220 y 590 euros).

Está claro que con un terminal así te sentirás, tal como se dijo en la presentación, como un auténtico protagonista de las películas de James Bond. El súper reloj-teléfono de LG acaba de presentarse hace una hora escasa en el CES y ya tenemos un pequeño (pero intenso) vídeo de cómo funciona.

Tras el salto podrás echarle un ojo al LG GD910 que, recuerda, cuenta con un tamaño de 61 x 39 x 13,9 mm, un peso de 84 gramos, conectividad HSDPA y Bluetooth, resistencia al agua y 2 horas de autonomía. Que lo disfrutes.

Netgear ha traído al CES tres routers enfocados en la gama doméstica, entre los que destaca un modelo 3G para conexiones de banda ancha móvil. Pero vayamos por partes. El primero de ellos es el DGND3300, que incorpora un modem para líneas ADSL2+ además de un enrutador inalámbrico para redes de 2,4 GHz y 5 GHz.

Le sigue el WNDR3700, el primer producto de la marca que incorpora el nuevo diseño de quinta generación, y que al igual que el modelo anterior, ofrece conexiones inalámbricas de 2,4 GHz y 5 GHz además de un puerto USB para compartir impresoras a través de la red. El último en aparecer es el MBR624GU, y se encarga de crear un punto de acceso inalámbrico a partir de un modem 3G USB. No hay información acerca de sus precios, pero su salida al mercado está al caer.

Vaya preciosidad de reproductor que se tenía guardado Sony bajo el brazo. Hace unas semanas que se venía rumoreando y finalmente ya podemos conocerlo oficialmente -aunque con pocos datos facilitados, seguramente con la idea de convertirlo en uno de los protagonistas de la conferencia de esta tarde-.

Sin duda lo más atractivo del nuevo NWZ-X1000 es su espléndida pantalla táctil de 3 pulgadas con tecnología OLED, lo cual se traduce no sólo en una calidad de imagen fantástica sino también en un menor consumo de batería y, por tanto, una mayor autonomía.

Sabemos además que cuenta con WiFi, que sus auriculares vienen con cancelación de ruido y que va a estar disponible en tamaños de 16 y 32 GB. Y ¿qué decir del diseño? A ver si podemos cazarlo al vuelo y echarle algunas fotos para verlo más de cerca porque estamos seguros que ese acabado simulando granito va a provocar tanto partidarios como detractores. Actualización: Varios datos rapiñados de su web oficial que no aparecían en la nota de prensa: lector SDHC, WiFi, webcam integrada, pendrives de 8 ó 16 GB, WiFi, USB x3, salida VGA, gráficos Silicon Motion SM502 con 16 MB RAM, 802.11 b/g, 512 MB de DDR2, y CPU Loongson 2F a 900 Mhz. La duración de la batería es de 4 horas.

Es posible, probable, que el nombre de Emtec sólo lo relaciones con soportes de almacenamiento; ópticos, principalmente. Sin embargo esta compañía fundada por Basf y actual división del grupo francés Dexxon acaba de lanzarse a la piscina del CES con un miniportátil que promete algo distinto… al menos si pasaste por alto hace unos meses el EM-PC. Frente a la avalancha Atom, Emtec nos ofrece con su nuevo Gdium (esta vez sin coletilla o apellido) un procesador MIPS-64 de ST Microelectronics moviendo Linux (Mandriva concretamente) en una pantalla de 10″ 1.024 x 600.

Mad Catz is unveiling their new controllers for Street Fighter IV, a HAWX compatible flight stick and their latest PC flight stick at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show.

The Saitek Aviator Flight Stick comes in an Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 model, but both are fully PC compatible. The controllers include an oversized flat base for increased stability, three dedicated Fire Buttons, a Combat Trigger, POV (point-of-view) Analog Stick and a throttle lever. The controllers also include a two position mode switch.

The 360 version includes an integrated Live headset connector and an Xbox Guide button, while the PS3 version includes a Home button.

Mad Catz says the sticks are fully compatible with Ubisoft’s upcoming flight sim Tom Clancy’s: HAWX. The sticks, which ship later this month, will sell for $50.

The Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 includes dual-speed Turbo functionality for each of the eight buttons complete with LED Indicators, and an integrated D-Pad switch. The start and select/back Buttons have been moved to the rear of the stick, which also includes a top panel that can hold character cards which show each character’s special moves.

The Street Fighter IV FightPad for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 includes an enlarged circular eight-way floating D-Pad and arcade style six-button configuration. An integrated D-Pad switch allows gamers to alternate between D-Pad and Analog Sticks.

The Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick: Tournament Edition for the Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION 3 uses the same Japanese style ball-handled joystick and 30mm Action Buttons found in the official Street Fighter IV Vewlix arcade cabinet. The stick also has the D-Pad control switch, dual Turbo functionality for each button, and exact button layout matching the Vewlix Street Fighter IV arcade panel.

The Street Fighter IV Faceplate and Console Skinz for the Xbox 360and Playstation 3 lets gamers customize their consoles.

The Street Fighter IV Wall Scroll us basically a giant sticker you slap on your wall.

The Cyborg X Flight Stick is a PC flight stick with a trigger, eleven programmable buttons, a shift function to double the program options, two levers and a scroll wheel.

The X also uses some components which can be removed or folded away to make it easier to store the controller. The stick’s handle attaches to the base with a secure screw collar and the left and right feet of the tripod base fold in and out of the body. When extended, the legs click into place to create a secure and stable platform for the stick.

The stick, set to hit in the first quarter, will sell for $50.

Am I the only one more than a little disturbed that Mad Catz still isn’t telling us officially how much their Street Fighter gear is going to sell for?

Sure, we’ve heard that the gamepad may sell for $40, the stick for $70 and the collector’s edition for $140, but why no mention in their press releases?
