TomTom y Fujitsu Ten aparecen una vez más de la mano en el CES. Ahora llegan para presentarnos una actualización del centro multimedia/navegador ECLIPSE AVN2210p, el AVN4430, que permite acoplar un GPS TomTom a la unidad doble DIN, ofreciendo al mismo tiempo funciones como la reproducción de CD/DVD/MP3/WMA, compatibilidad de audio/video con el iPod y un puerto USB adicional.

Por si fuera poco, ha resultado ser el ganador de la categoría de Innovación en Diseño e Ingeniería del CES; ¿se le puede pedir algo más?

Valve will be announcing a major update to the software development kit for PC users and downloadable content details for the Xbox 360 “very soon”, a company spokesman told Kotaku today.

The new details, first hinted at in our December in-game interview with Valve’s Chet Faliszek, could be announced as early as next week.

Valve declined to offer up anymore details about what the SDK update and DLC might include, but speaking with Faliszek in late December he hinted that new content might include opening op all multiplayer maps to versus mode on the console and “other things.”

I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that Valve will be opening up machinima tools in the SDK.

Olympus se ha explayado de lo lindo en este CES y hoy ha presentado, nada más y nada menos que, 10 modelos de cámaras diferentes. Para que no te atragantes con tanto megapíxel y tecnología de detección de caras, vamos a ir repasándolas poco a poco.

Comenzamos con un plato fuerte: la SP-590UZ, una compacta que llega a Las Vegas presumiendo de un impactante zoom de 26 aumentos. Junto a esto, se ofrece una resolución de 10 megapíxeles y la capacidad de guardar las imágenes en formato RAW. Además, incluye una pantalla LCD HyperCrystal II de 2,7 pulgadas y funciones como la Detección Avanzada de Rostros, con capacidad para identificar hasta 16 personas, o el photoshopeador por excelencia, Beauty Mode, que embellece la piel mostrando unas líneas más suaves y mayor luminosidad.

La cámara es capaz de captar hasta 10 frames por segundo, eso sí, reduciendo su calidad hasta los 3 megapíxeles. También graba vídeo en formato 640 x 480 a 30 fps, su rango ISO alcanza los 1600 y cuenta con conector HDMI.

La Olympus SP-590UZ llegará a los mercados en el mes de marzo aunque su precio aún no se ha anunciado.

The holidays were very good to Nintendo in Japan, with hardware sales big enough to translate to a second bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken on Christmas Eve. We’re talking 380,000 game machines moved in a week.

Leading Nintendo’s hardware charge was the Nintendo DSi. Sales were actually down, week to week, but still far enough ahead to claim the top spot. Also down was the PSP, which dropped from its Dissidia: Final Fantasy release week high.

Seeing the biggest gain, however, percentage wise, was the PlayStation 3. That was thanks to the release of Level 5’s PS3 exclusive role-playing game White Knight Chronicles. Not enough to push it past Nintendo DS Lite numbers, but a step in the right direction for Sony in Japan. Perhaps the Japanese releases of Yakuza 3, Demon’s Souls and Street Fighter IV launches in early February will help spark PS3 “momentum.”

Not much happening on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 2 front, but the full chart from December 22 to 28 looks like…

Estamos esperando ansiosamente los anuncios de Palm, y al parecer los cambios son totales, incluyendo un sitio rediseñado (al menos el de los Estados Unidos). Han eliminado información sobre todos sus aparatos más antiguos, y las cosas ahora se concentran en los últimos teléfonos, aunque sin presentar nada nuevo. Esto sigue el anuncio de Colligan de que se dedicarán únicamente a teléfonos y ya fabricarán más PDAs. Palm, estamos listos. No nos hagas esperar más y cuéntanos sobre las novedades.

Take a gander at this special, limited edition commemorative Street Fighter IV coin, available exclusively to folks who pre-order Capcom’s next big fighting game from retailer GameCrazy.

The commemorative Street Fighter 20th Anniversary coin is a thing of joy and wonder, encompassing everything it means to be a coin, while still commemorating an event. It comes in a lovely display card, with Ryu on the inside and interesting Street Fighter facts printed on the back. It’s just the sort of thing I could move out of the way while looking for misplaced game discs for years to come!

Yes, as the resident of a non-GameCrazy state, I too am a little bit disappointed, but I know I can live vicariously through those folks that do happen to have one right down the street from them. Just promise me this - when you get it, log in and tell us how it feels.

Last year Multiplayer came up with a great idea: sorting through all of the Game of the Year Awards to pick one conclusive winner. This year, I’m stealing that idea, and not making it better.

After scouring the internet for upwards of 45 minutes I managed to find 24 different publications that had finished drip-feeding their readers their particular choices for games of the year.

The result? A tie!

Adding up the list you come up with seven votes for Grand Theft Auto IV and seven votes for Fallout 3. Of course, I’m sure you can find other outlets I’ve overlooked to break or extend that tie.

What really matters is that Giant Bomb, Time Magazine and The New York Times agreed with us.
